Bow Occasions Loves… Brides in Cardigans

Now, I love a cardigan! They go with anything and look fab when layering winter outfits. One thing I have seen on wedding blogs recently is brides in cardigans and I love it! It’s something that I think I will adopt for our wedding day. I quite fancy rocking a bright blue or purple cardigan with  my wedding dress.

Bridesmaids also look great in cardigans. Perhaps each bridesmaid could have a different dress but same cardigan or perhaps same dress, different cardigan. Either way, they look fab!

Why stop at brides and bridesmaids? Dressing your groomsmen in cardigans would look great for a casual wedding.

Don’t these cardigans look so cute and stylish! A great alternative to the shrug for a winter or chilly evening cover up.

French Sole – A Flat Wedding Shoe

Now, I already have my wedding shoes but they are sky high so I need a pair of dancing shoes (any excuse for two pairs of shoes). Whilst I love my heels, I love my flats also and just love ballet style footwear so I was in heaven when I came across French Sole.

Taken from their website, “French Sole was founded in 1989 by shoe designer Jane Winkworth. With a passion for ballet and ballerina style shoes and with a background of art , painting and design ,Jane decided to set up the first ever “concept” company selling only ballet style footwear. Starting out as a Mail Order company run from the basement of Jane’s home in Chelsea and with the late Princess of Wales as one of her most devoted fans, the business quickly grew and the first store in Fulham opened in 1991 with a second store in prestigious Sloane Street following later in 1997. French Sole now supply over five hundred outlets, stores and concessions globally including Selfridges, House of Fraser, Shoe Studio, Top Shop, Bentalls and John Lewis.

There are so many choices to choose from on the French Sole website, I don’t know which pair to get for myself. I’m torn between the traditional white shoes on the top left and the silver sparklies on the bottom right… what do you think?

Rain On Your Wedding Day… Part Two

Yesterday on the Bow Occasions Wedding Blog, I blogged about the possibility of Rain On Your Wedding Day… See Part One HERE. During my search for the perfect wedding umbrella for our wedding day (yes I am thinking about accessories 18 months before the wedding, I am a girl after all), I have come across these lovelies below.

Wedding Day Umbrellas by Umbrella Heaven

Vision White Lace from Umbrella Heaven £9.95 / Lilly White Wedding Umbrella by Umbrella Heaven £17.35

Wedding Day Umbrellas by Umbrella Heaven

Victorian Wedding Umbrella in Black by Umbrella Heaven £17.35 / Heart Umbrella in Black by Umbrella Heaven £19.45

Wedding Day Umbrellas by Brollies Galore

Dianna Wedding Umbrella by Chrysalin from Brollies Galore £29.99 / Cancan Parasol by Guy de Jean – Candy Pink by Brollies Galore £110.00

Wedding Day Umbrellas by Brollies Galore

Esperanza – Romanelli Wave Edged Bridal Umbrella by Brollies Galore £164.99 / Retro Chic – Automatic Opening Umbrella by Brollies Galore £12.99

As I mentioned on the blog yesterday, if umbrellas are going to be up on your wedding day, make the most of it and have a fab selection of matching umbrellas for your wedding party. Match the umbrellas to your colour scheme, have white/ivory for the bride, black for the groom and get an umbrella to match the bridesmaids outfits, the possibilities are endless.

I hope these umbrellas have given you food for thought. Do you have a favourite? Let me know by commenting below.

Emmy Custom Made Wedding Shoes

I know that for a lot of women, the wedding shoes can sometimes be equally as important as the wedding dress. As a fellow bride-to-be with just over 18 months to go, I already have my shoes, however, if I didn’t, I would certainly be taking a trip to custom made shoe designer, Emmy Shoes.

Luxury brand Emmy Shoes offers custom made shoes and hair decorations for brides, or anyone who is looking for elegant and beautifully crafted footwear.

Emmy Custom Made Wedding Shoes - Chloe

Appointment only consultations are held at the gorgeously girly Emmy showroom in Islington, London. Known for her glamorous vintage inspired style, brides can choose from a 40’s peep toe to a 20’s round shoe, a delicate 30’s sandal to a super high 70’s slingback.

Custom Made Wedding Shoes - Elizabeth

Aside from a wide choice of styles and fabrics, including vintage fabrics and a rainbow of sumptuous suede’s, the Emmy ‘details’ are what make each pair individual. A dramatic peacock feather, a bold crystal fan or a cheeky beaded bow are just a few of the dazzling finishes add by hand to your custom made shoes. Emmy and her team work closely with each client to ensure that their shoes are perfect for their look, and they can feel confident in knowing that they have been created exclusively for them.

Custom Made Wedding Shoes

About Emmy

Emmy Scarterfield  started out designing shoes and accessories for Bottega Veneta and Georgio Armani before returning to the UK to set up accessory ranges for French Connection, Reiss and small high fashion labels such as Jessica Ogden and House of Jazz. Emmy always wanted to launch her own label but understood the financial problems and difficulties for fashion labels so needed to find a niche that she might survive. Emmy saw that the wedding market lacked a well designed, shoe brand where the same attention to quality and detail was given to the shoes thatthe dress was given.  She decided to open a high end custom made wedding shoe company 6 years ago selling custom made shoes.

Emmy has since made shoes for Liz Hurley, Autumn Kelly who married Peter Phillips (Princess Anne’s son and brother to Sara Phillips) and most recently Clare Danes.  She has also made shoes for many fashion editors and stylists.

Guest Post :: Top 10 Tips for Choosing Your Wedding Jewellery

Today I have the lovely Rebecca from Chez Bec guest blogging on the Bow Occasions Blog. Rebecca has been kind enough to put together a fantastic article for you – Top 10 Tips for Choosing Your Wedding Jewellery.

Chez Bec launched in 2006 and is now regarded as one of the UK’s leading providers of Wedding Jewellery having won the Award for Best Bridal Accessories at the Wedding Ideas Awards 2010 as well as being nominated on one of 3 Finalists for Best Bridal Accessories in the Wedding Ideas Awards 2008 and 2009. Chez Bec was also short listed as one of 5 Bridal Jewellery Finalists in the UK Jewellery Awards 2008.

Your wedding day is the single most important day of your whole life, especially if you are the bride. Months and months and often years and years are spent planning for the perfect day. Each and every detail is meticulously chosen and one of the biggest details when it comes to the bride’s outfit is the Wedding Jewellery. The right Wedding Jewellery will complement the wedding dress perfectly and will complete the bride’s outfit. Here are our top tips when it comes to choosing your Wedding Jewellery.

Chez Bec Jewellery

1. Don’t start to think about your Wedding Jewellery until you have chosen your dress. Your gown will influence the style of your accessories and you don’t want to spend money on something that doesn’t match.

2. Use wedding magazines and wedding websites for inspiration for your Wedding Jewellery and to get an indication of the range of styles, trends and the latest prices.

3. Set a Wedding Jewellery budget but allow a 10% leeway just in case you see the perfect pieces, which might be a little over budget.

4. Leave yourself plenty of time to find your Wedding Jewellery. We would recommend at least a month of searching if you timescale permits. Finding the right sparkles to finish your wedding look can often take a lot longer than expected.

5. Bespoke or ready to wear Wedding Jewellery? Having a bespoke creation is a wonderful experience but might cost more than buying a ready made set and it will invariably take longer for you to get your jewellery.

Chez Bec Headbands

6. Colour? Don’t think that you have to choose Wedding Jewellery, which matches the exact colour of your dress. This is often impossible anyway given the many different shades of white, ivory, champagne and other coloured dresses available today. If you are going for pearls, then ivory freshwater pearls will go with both white and ivory dresses perfectly. They will also look fabulous and contrast wonderfully with other coloured dresses as well.

7. If you can’t decide between several different sets of Wedding Jewellery, or you are worried about whether a particular set will go with your dress, see if it is possible to take all of the jewellery along to a dress fitting so that you can try each piece on with your dress before you make a final decision.

8. Decide how you will be wearing your hair and if you will be wearing a veil or not. This will help you to decide whether or not you are going to need a tiara or other bridal hair accessories as many Wedding Jewellery retailers stock tiaras and hair accessories to match their Wedding Jewellery or can make them to match for you.

9. Don’t forget your bridemaids’ jewellery! Give them their jewellery as a thank you gift on the morning of the wedding. It will allow for some special moments between you all and it also means that you don’t have to buy both their jewellery and a thank you gift.

10. After your wedding day, make sure that your Wedding Jewellery is clean and in tact before wrapping it carefully and storing it away somewhere safe. It is best to keep pearls and sterling silver jewellery wrapped in a soft cloth or jewellery pouch placed inside an airtight plastic bag. This will prevent it tarnishing.

Thanks you so much to Rebecca for this helpful article. If you are looking for gorgeous jewellery for your wedding day, be sure to visit www.chezbec.com

Much Love,

Louise xx

Emma Gordon London

I have been a fan of Emma Gordon London for a little while now!

My ImageMy Image

Emma Gordon London is a one-woman show set up in 2003. Emma was tired of only being able to buy mass-produced goods in the shops that were being worn by thousands of other people too, so she decided to do something about it! Emma began by setting up a small stall at Spitalfields Fashion Market in London’s East End. Her gorgeous bags were soon noticed and Emma was approached by several boutiques that wanted to stock her designs and the rest, as they say, is history.

My ImageMy Image

Emma says her signature style is ‘ladylike with a twist’, and she is inspired by 1950′s pin-up girls and Audrey Hepburn. Retro details are mixed with modern colours and shapes to create bags that would sit equally well with jeans or a slinky evening dress, and a made-to-order service means that you can get a perfect match for a special occasion or wedding.
